Hideaway Cottage – 11 Conch Shell Ln

Hideaway Cottage - 11 Conch Shell Ln

2 Bedrooms 2.5 Bathrooms Sleeps 6 Dog Friendly

Hideaway Cottage 1/2 block to the beach. Affordable 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home nestled off Beachview Drive.

THE SPACE
This is a no frills, basic beach house from the 1930's - great beach proximity and at a great price. The living space is comfortable and has a nice TV. The kitchen is surprisingly big with an eat in dining area and half bath. Laundry room is located at back door.

Upstairs are two queen bedrooms and two en-suite bathrooms. One has a shower only and the other has a combo tub/shower. There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room. All the comforts of home and a great place to put your toes in the sand. You will enjoy your quiet retreat at Conch Shell Lane.

We're proud to offer clean, affordable accommodation with super great beach access, a great base camp for exploring all the island has to offer! This is an older beach cottage with all necessary updates and more, but has not been renovated. For example, upstairs there's a bathroom with an original cast-iron tub. It has a shower curtain that goes all the way around you - bet your house doesn't have this!

Note also for pet travelers - the house is pet friendly (see below) but does not have a fully fenced yard.

We're located mid-beach - halfway between the St Simons Pier Village and East Beach. This stretch of beach is not tide dependent and has plenty of walking distance in both directions. We're walking distance to local restaurant favorites like Crab Daddy's, Barrier Island Brewing, Fiddlers, and Porch.

Legacy Collection Home: This home is part of the Lighthouse Legacy Collection, a celebrated group of St. Simons Island's original beach cottages. Built in the 1930s and 1940s, these homes have been thoughtfully restored to preserve their historic character while offering modern comforts and preserving the architectural charm that makes them unique. What makes these cottages special are the features that can't be replicated in new construction—unique floor plans, original architectural details, cozy room proportions, and the charm that comes from decades of island history. As with any historic home, guests may notice differences from a newly built property. Rooms may be smaller, floors and walls may show the character of age, and the layout may reflect a different era of coastal living. Rather than the perfection of a new home, these cottages offer an authentic St. Simons experience filled with warmth, personality, and timeless appeal. If you appreciate history, character, and coastal nostalgia, we invite you to enjoy this special home.

Pets: This home is dog friendly with $250 pet fee, 2 dogs max. Unfortunately we can't host breeds known to insurance carriers as 'vicious', please ask if you're not sure.

Minimum Age: Must be 25 + to book, or age 30 + on GAFL weekend (last weekend in October) For GAFL weekend (last weekend in October), guests must be age 30 + or kids with their parents, no student groups. We cannot make exceptions for that weekend.

No Events: No events or parties. No overnight guests beyond the original booking group.

The short drive to Jekyll Island to experience Driftwood Beach and other activities there makes for a wonderful day trip. And the golf isn’t bad either.

Lovely cottage-y feel

by Meredith
This older house just had just the right balance of updated kitchen and baths with lovely old features and construction quirks left undisturbed. In addition, the location was ideal. Combined with excellent communication from the management company, and super cleanliness, it was a vacation stay I dearly wanted to extend.

House is simple and not large but was enough room for our group of four adults and a high schooler & middle schooler. Kids said couch bed was comfy enough. The walk to the beach was beyond easy and the kids found it the best part after years of vacationing where they dragged stuff for blocks. It was literally around the corner. Check in we did have some dirty towels left and turned out housekeeping had issues with the dryer but they came back and took care of and maintenance fixed dryer all within a couple hours of our arrival. Would def try to stay in this home again if we return!

A fantastic cottage that is VERY close to the beach but just removed enough to allow for some private time. It was great to be able to walk easily to food, drink, and beach!!!

Good choice for our needs

by Tracie
We wanted a place close to the beach and the village since we had a booth at Art Under the Oaks in Postell Park. Being puppy friendly, we made the short walk to wake up and put the sun to bed on a daily basis. The house met our needs, and my family agreed that we would stay there again.

Weekend get together with friends

Enjoyed staying at this cute little beach cottage! Very accurate description of online listing. Location was great - very short walk to the beach and close to the village. Perfect for our group (2 couples and our dogs). Would definitely be interested in staying at this location again simply because it is so conveniently located.

We loved our stay, would absolutely stay again!

This location is great, the beach and great restaurants are so close within walking distance. Lighthouse vacation rentals are great to work with and quick to answer any questions. The property was comfortable and well decorated. Great choice!

Great location, nice house, well equipped/clean

by Coby
Excellent location! Lot of trees around (mosquitos!) so house little dirty on outside. Well equipped kitchen and everything quite clean. Enough supplies present (toiletpaper etc.). We would have liked the master bedrm to have King bed rather than 2 dressers and a table. Excellent service and quick responses from Lighthouse! Beach at Myrtle St. 2 minute walk away. Bathrooms very small but they work and were clean, the one can loose the tub for sure. All in all we had lovely few days.

It was the perfect beach cottage for our girl's trip! The amenities were as expected and the space was very clean! We especially enjoyed the short walk to the beach! One of the neighbors told us about a local restaurant called Crabdaddy's and it was spectacular! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again in the future!

Great location! Very short walk to the beach

We loved our stay here with our family of four, plus our dog. Super short walk to the beach???closer than I had expected, even. Loved the tucked away little lane it was on, with the shade trees, etc. Very nice inside, clean. Would stay again!

Solid "no frills" accommodation

by Richard
Great heavy-wooded neighborhood of small cottages. Short walk to beach - though nearby beach is not usable during high tide -- but short car ride north to spectacular east beach fixes that. Also short walk to several nice restaurants. House is simple, but clean, well equipped, and comfortable. We would stay again. .

This cute little beach house is a great location for a family to stay at St Simons! The beach access is just across the street, but the house is set back and secluded, which gives good privacy. Bedrooms are a good size, and the two and a half baths are wonderful! The kitchen is probably the best part-- very open and spacious, with a table that easily sits six people. Note that the rooms upstairs can get stuffy, but the window units cool things down quickly. Also, we were able to put an air mattress in one of the rooms and did not use the pull out couch, so I cannot speak to its comfortable-ness. Everything was very clean and looks fresh and new. We would stay there again.

A Unique Experience!

A well preserved older cottage. Clean and comfortable. Watch your head with lower ceilings especially while climbing the stairs. Nicely hidden down a dead end short drive away from traffic. Short walk to the beach. We really enjoyed our home for the week.

Cute house, great location!

by Alison
This house was just the right size for my family and is in a perfect location with easy access to the beach as well as proximity to restaurants and shopping. The kitchen is large with everything you could possibly need and the house was well-stocked with supplies. Bathrooms were very clean and the bedrooms were cool and comfortable at night. One thing that would make the house even more family-friendly would be an additional television in at least one of the bedrooms. I also felt like the carpet upstairs was a little dated and would be better with a hardwood or tile floor, just because of all the sand coming through! We had a wonderful week on St. Simons and will certainly consider staying here again in the future!

Amazing!

Ryan's house is on a quiet gravel lane super close to beach access. We loved the location - less distance to carry coolers and chairs! It was a perfect weekend escape and the kitchen is great for cooking in. Ryan was super responsive prior and during our stay. Would highly recommend this Airbnb.

House is ideally located near the beach (access is down the block) and in walking distance to Neptune Park. There is plenty of space for 6 guests, bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and the kitchen has everything you need. Having 2 separate bathrooms is great. The outdoor area needs some maintenance and a new grill. The one shown on the listing was not usable. Overall the house is good and the location is excellent.

Enjoyable stay

The house is great and well stocked. It is a very short walk to the beach and close to restaurants and the pier. I did wish it had a better outdoor seating area.

Very small

by John C.
It was nice but very small. 2 and 1/2 baths without a full size shower. It’s more of a beach cabin. Ceilings low and stairs are very tight. Had air but you need to use the window units in both bedrooms to keep it cool.

Loved it!!

by Michele H.
House is so cute , clean and very comfortable. Perfectly stocked with everything you need! Except maybe an outside swing ??????. Its in a great location to the beach... just mere steps. We love St. Simons and really enjoyed our stay. Only bummer was we brought our dog here to this particular location because East Beach was supposed to be dog friendly during summer season all day. The rules have changed to 6p to 9a. We had to drive over to Jekyll Island for the beach. Other then that the house is perfect and lighthouse vacations (Ryan) was really great to deal with. We really enjoyed our vacation.

Lovely vacation spot

Great vacation! Quiet, yet very close to everything! A few steps to the beach. Just down the street from Pier Village- lots to do!

Great 3 day beach trip

This place was the perfect size for the 4 of us. The kitchen was very well stocked. It was a very short walk to the beach. There are great restaurants very close.

Our stay at Conch Shell

by jen b.
Upon opening the door we were all hit with strong odor that was a mixture of heavy cleaning supplies and mildew. The smell stayed into the night. My family was tired from drive but myself and my daughter were both bothered into the night by the smells. I reached out the one of the property managers and he seemed receptive but really offered no solution at that time. Communication and resolution was spotty over the next 24hrs. I was then told they could bring in an air purifier. At that time, the smell had either dissipated/we became used to it. Other serious issues with the property became apparent. Neither of the upstairs bedroom doors could be shut properly so neither could lock. That made it a serious hazard for my young toddler and the stairs. I had to be hyper vigilant the entire time. The doors both open out into the hall so I had to have someone place a heavy suitcase in front of the door and then had to have them remove it to leave the room. Very irritating. Also the shower/tub set up in one of the bathrooms was dangerous and gross. The shower liner was a thin cheap plastic way too long and it made it a very dangerous slip hazard during entering and exiting the shower. Also the floor beneath the shower was warped from water. That could be possibly a source of the bad smell. Above one of the beds upstairs there was a small opening into the attic space. Every time you opened the door to that room, because of the strong air flow when the A/C was running, it would pull the door and cause that little attic space to pop up. When that happened mouse poop and random dried leaves would fall onto the bed below. It was nice to be close to the beach but the gross factors definitely outweighed the beach proximity. I would not recommend this house to any friends or family.

Our family enjoyed spending July 4th on SSI.

by Amy B.
We took a leap of faith booking this property at the last minute for the week of July 4th. Our children are 15 & 8. They asked to spend a week at a less crowded beach in a house rather than the condos we usually stay in at Hilton Head or Destin. I couldn’t understand why it was still available, except that it only had a few recent reviews. The cottage was a little quirky, but precious. It was probably one of the most well equipped kitchens of any VRBO we’ve ever stayed in - it even had a great pizza cutter and ice cream scoop. We had a few issues with the AC and housekeeping. Jonathan was kind, extremely apologetic and very accommodating to get matters resolved so we could enjoy our visit. The location was perfect - just across the street from two beach accesses. The covered area in the back offered a place to clean off our beach gear and rinse off before going in each day. We had a wonderful time on SSI - it’s our new favorite beach vacation spot!

Looking forward to coming back soon

Would recommend this rental home to anyone who want to get away for some rest and relaxation. Owners were great to work with. Thanks again.

Legacy Collection: This home is part of our Legacy Collection, a celebrated group of St. Simons Island's original beach cottages. Built in the 1930s and 1940s, these homes have been thoughtfully restored to preserve their historic character while offering modern comforts while preserving the architectural charm that makes them unique. What makes these cottages special are the features that can't be replicated in new construction—unique floor plans, original architectural details, cozy room proportions, and the charm that comes from decades of island history. As with any historic home, guests may notice differences from a newly built property. Rooms, closets, and bathrooms may be smaller, floors and walls may show the character of age, and the layout may reflect a different era of coastal living. Rather than the perfection of a new home, these cottages offer an authentic St. Simons experience filled with warmth, personality, and timeless appeal. If you appreciate history, character, and coastal nostalgia, we invite you to enjoy this special home.
