Our little yellow cottage by the sea might not seem like anything special, except that its 90 steps to the best beach on St Simons and its freshly equipped with all our favorites.

THE SPACE
Allow me to give you a tour!
Location - we're right at the 6th street beach access point on St Simons - walking distance to the pier and "village", and 90 steps to the beach. There's only one house between us and the beach so you can see glimpses of beach from the house and can hear waves crashing at night.

House - we have 2 comfy bedrooms and one basic bath. Honestly the kitchen, bath and laundry are nothing to write home about - but you'll find all are neat as a pin. More details of kitchen stock is below.

Primary Bedroom: The primary bedroom has a comfy king bed and has sounds of the ocean at night. There's also a big Smart TV with 125+ Xfinity cable channels, a good Polk audio system with Alexa (stream whole-house audio or just in one room), and the bathroom is attached.

Bunk Room: Custom built-in big ole' bunk bed - queen bed on the bottom, climb the stairs to a twin, and pull out the hidden twin trundle as needed to sleep 4 comfortably. Again, comfy bedding, and the same technology as the master - big Smart TV, plenty of channels, premium audio system. The bunk room is also close to the bathroom.

Living and Dining Room: Open concept living and dining room. Here again, big smart TV, plenty of channels, premium audio system, and sounds of the ocean at high tide.

Bath: One bath located in the hall between the two bedrooms. Update July 2026: New tub and shower.

Screen porch: There's a screen porch on the front of the house - great spot to enjoy some bug-free outdoors and listen to the ocean.

Other features:
COLD AC - we went for the max when we replaced the AC system - it will keep you cool.

FAST WIFI - 200Mbs internet.

Ceiling fans and sound machines in both bedrooms.

?No stairs - ranch floor plan is one step up from the ground.

Kitchen has all the pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc. you'll need plus basic spices and oil.

Starter quantity of TP, shampoo, soap, dish and laundry detergent are provided.

Friendly local property manager to help as needed.

Why is our beach best? The 6th street beach is our favorite because we have plenty of beach even at high tide - go much closer to the village and you may not have beach at high tide. It's also not a crowded beach because there are not a bunch of big condos nearby and parking is very limited. We're so close you can just walk back to the house if you forgot something/need a break. No reason to haul your sunscreen and snacks to the beach with you, you're so close.
Why near the village? The St Simons Pier Village is the social center of the island. Shops, Restaurants, ice cream parlors, and our iconic lighthouse are a short walk - we walk to the village for coffee and breakfast, then again for dinner and pick up an ice cream cone on the way back. It's about a 10-minute walk or 1-minute drive.

If you're looking for a comfortable spot with great beach access that you know is clean and cute, you've found it! And we won't bust your budget, so there's still room for that ice cream cone.


Note: Starting July 2026 there is a new home being built three houses down. I've adjusted rates to reflect there may be noise at times.

Located on the south end of the Island, St. Simons Pier Village district serves as the downtown social hub and is a popular destination for shopping, dining and gathering on the pier and nearby lighthouse, playground and picnic areas. Overlooking the ocean and Jekyll Island across the way, you'll find the St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum, Neptune Park with its ocean side pool and facilities, playground, miniature golf course, and an oak shaded picnic area, fishing pier, public library and theater.

Legacy Collection Home: This home is part of the Lighthouse Legacy Collection, a celebrated group of St. Simons Island's original beach cottages. Built in the 1930s and 1940s, these homes have been thoughtfully restored to preserve their historic character while offering modern comforts and preserving the architectural charm that makes them unique. What makes these cottages special are the features that can't be replicated in new construction—unique floor plans, original architectural details, cozy room proportions, and the charm that comes from decades of island history. As with any historic home, guests may notice differences from a newly built property. Rooms may be smaller, floors and walls may show the character of age, and the layout may reflect a different era of coastal living. Rather than the perfection of a new home, these cottages offer an authentic St. Simons experience filled with warmth, personality, and timeless appeal. If you appreciate history, character, and coastal nostalgia, we invite you to enjoy this special home.

Pets: This home is dog friendly with $150 pet fee, 2 dogs max. Unfortunately we can't host breeds known to insurance carriers as 'vicious', please ask if you're not sure.

No Smoking: No smoking is allowed in the home, on the porches/patios/decks, or on the property in general.

Minimum Age: Must be 25 + to book, or age 30 + on GAFL weekend (last weekend in October) For GAFL weekend (last weekend in October), guests must be age 30 + or kids with their parents, no student groups. We cannot make exceptions for that weekend.

No Events: No events or parties. No overnight guests beyond the original booking group.

The property was amazing, 30 seconds from the beach. Very safe and in a small community. Even during high tide when most of the beach is underwater, there is still a very good strip of beach in front of this place that is always usable. The location is excellent it's right between downtown and the brewery.

Adorable little cottage! Perfect quaint getaway just steps from the beach (you can hear the waves crashing while you sleep). Place is clean, really well stocked with everything you need, and it's walking distance to restaurants and shops. They reiterated to us that the kitchen and bathroom hadn't been updated and that it's an old cottage, which we appreciated as a heads up but definitely didn't deter us! Got plenty of hot water in the shower easily and the AC worked great too. Would stay again!

We absolutely loved this house and our time at SSI! It was the perfect size for our family of 3 but we easily could have brought more children if we had them! The description matched perfectly... what you see is what you get. Everything was very clean, inviting and comfy. The bathroom is tiny but that was not a surprise as they told us when we booked that the kitchen and bathroom were not updated. Their beach chairs were the back pack kind which was great because the 6th St entrance to the beach didn't have enough room for a beach wagon and also had stairs. NOT handicap accessible for the 6th street entrance. We were front door to sitting on the beach in less than a minute!!! Easy, short walk which was nice for us to be able to go back to house to make lunch or put baby down for nap etc. 10/10 we loved this house and would book it again for our growing family.

We really enjoyed this little cottage. They advertised this thing right and it met our expectations. It was fantastic being literally one house from the beach. We rented a golf cart and found it easy to zip up and down Ocean Blvd to get food/drinks. Two thumbs up!

Wonderful location very close to the beach and great restaurants. The beach is a 2 minute walk and plenty of room on the beach to hang out. The house is equipped with plenty of pans and utensils to make your own meal there. There is even a nice grill in the back yard. Furniture and beds are comfy. Ac will keep you cool on hot days. This was our second stay on the island and we would stay here again just for the location.

This location is fabulous. Just walk right across the quiet street to the beach. Fresh paint and very pretty styling. Luxurious linens and comfy beds. It is an older cottage with its quirks and prepare for the reality of one small bathroom especially if you are bringing the family but the screened in front porch catches a lot of the sand and all the beach stuff. The TVs and sound bars work great and all the space are functional.

The house is an an excellent location. You can easily walk to the beach in less than a minute. It is a short walk or golf cart ride to the pier are where there are restaurants, shops and parks. The house is quaint and clean and fit our family of 5 perfectly. The owner (Ryan) was helpful and his communication was excellent. I suggested a few additions to the kitchen and house to make it a bit more convienent and he quickly supplied the house with these items. Great rental with great owners!!!

The owners description is spot on - clean, comfortable, fully functional, not ultra fancy, excellent location with short walk to beach or pier. I love the 1930's styling, with original doors (heavy!) and trim. Nice to have a place to clean off the beach equipment and kids + outdoor storage on the patio. One suggestion - having a mirror above each of the bedroom dressers and a power strip would make a HUGE difference. Only having one bathroom left my girlfriend and I doing the get-ready shuffle... If we had a mirror and power strip in the bedroom it would be zero issue. Also - a few more minor additions to the kitchen would be great for cooking in - measuring cups/spoons. We are looking forward to staying here again!

The listing is accurate - my husband and I maybe put shoes on two times and that was only because we went into the village. A stones throw from the beach made this getaway perfect for us. There isn???t anything fancy about this place, but it???s comfortable, completely functional and did the trick. Only thing I docked on this property is we had some hair in the sink in the bathroom which is one of the grossest things for me. So I questioned the cleanliness for the rest of the trip - probably unfairly. With one bathroom and that is an absolute must for the cleaning team to pay extra attention to.
