Best Golf Courses On & Around St. Simons Island

St. Simons Island is the largest island in the Golden Isles and the home of many breathtaking and challenging golf courses. The courses are set among the natural landscape of oceanside dunes, historic oak trees, and the peaceful salt marsh.

Saint Simons has over 80 holes and four different facilities to choose from. Let’s explore them so you can book your tee times today!

The King and Prince Golf Course

  • Course: 18 Holes – 6462 Yards – Par 72
  • Website: https://www.kingandprince.com/
  • Address: The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort 100 Tabbystone, St. Simons Island, GA 31522
  • Phone: 912.634.0255

The newly restored King and Prince Golf Course, Home of the Hampton Club, is an 18-hole championship course of extraordinary beauty that unfolds in harmony with the challenges of one of Georgia’s great courses. It is renowned for its ancient forests, vast salt marshes, lagoons, and dramatic island holes, making this a true golf experience.

Two professional PGA instructors are available for lessons on the driving range, the oversized putting green, or the short game area. This is a great way to warm up for your round of golf. Billy Fuller, formerly course superintendent of Augusta National, has enhanced the brilliance of the late Joe Lee’s original design.

Frederica Golf Club

Frederica Golf Club is a bastion of Southern hospitality, the centerpiece of a community where gracious service, attention to detail, and putting members’ needs first is a heartfelt commitment. If the world-class golf course designed by the legendary Tom Fazio and the unique practice facilities are the crowns, then the crown jewel is the 36,000-square-foot Clubhouse — the social hub of the community.

Here is where members and their guests can dine, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, unwind after a round, and be pampered by staff that hold themselves to the highest standards of service. The Golf Club is a place to gather with your neighbors.

From here, it’s just a short walk or bike ride to other facilities: The Adirondack-style boathouse, the 400-acre freshwater lake, pool, tennis courts, lakeside fire pit, and comfortable patio.

Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center

  • Main Course: 18 Holes – 6477 Yards – Par 71 (Daily Fee)
  • West Course: 9 holes – 2460 Yards – Par 34 (Daily Fee)
  • Website: https://www.seapalms.com/
  • Address: 5445 Frederica Rd, Saint Simons Island, GA 31522
  • Phone: 912.638.3351

Sea Palms Golf Club was designed by George Cobb and Tom Jackson in 1967. Recent renovations to the main 18-hole course have many raving. Bunkers have been rebuilt, reshaped, and replaced with brilliant white G-angle sand. Native ornamental grasses were also planted in strategic areas that have raised the aesthetic appeal.

The course plays to a par of 71. At just under 6,500 yards from the tips, the course is not long by today’s standards. The pines, palms, and palmetto trees that line the fairways along with some overhanging moss place a premium on driving accuracy.

There is a considerable contrast in length between the two nines, with the longer back including a pair of fairly long par 5s, the second of which is part of a stout trio of finishing holes that includes the longest par 5, par 3, and par 4 on the course. The water-lined 18th is a terrific finishing hole. The 9-hole West course is a shorter layout that plays to a par of 34 (four par 3’s). This first-rate traditional coastal design is a challenging “Executive” course. Water comes into play on seven of the nine holes which adds another element for accurate shots.

Sea Palms golf amenities also include private lessons, a practice putting green, short game practice areas, and a driving range. Our golf staff can help plan tournament formats, pairings, scoring, and cart staging. Rental clubs are also available.

Sea Island Golf Club

This spectacular facility is popular among new players and visiting pros alike. The RSM Classic tournament on the PGA Tour debuted here in 2010, so you know you’re in good hands when you opt to play a round here.

There are three courses to choose from here: the Seaside Course with sweeping dunes and oceanside links, the Plantation Course which was redesigned by Mark and Davis Love III, and the dynamic Retreat Course.

As well as the pristine 18-hole courses, you’ll find two chipping and four putting greens as well as hitting bays, a fitness center, and a golf shop.
