Designed by George Cobb and Tom Jackson in 1967. Recent renovations to the main 18-hole course have many raving. Bunkers have been rebuilt, reshaped and replaced with brilliant white G-angle sand. Native ornamental grasses were also planted in strategic areas which have raised the aesthetic appeal. The course plays to a par of 71. At just under 6,500 yards from the tips, the course is not long by today’s standards. The pines, palms and palmetto trees that line the fairways along with some overhanging moss place a premium on driving accuracy. There is a considerable contrast in length between the two nines, with the longer back including a pair of fairly long par 5s, the second of which is part of a stout trio of finishing holes that includes the longest par 5, par 3 and par 4 on the course. The water-lined 18th is a terrific finishing hole.

The 9-hole West course is a shorter layout that plays to a par of 34 (four par 3’s). This first-rate traditional coastal design is a challenging “Executive” course. Water comes in into play on seven of the nine holes which adds another element for accurate shots.

Sea Palms golf amenities also include private lessons, practice putting green, short game practice areas and a driving range. Our golf staff can help plan tournament formats, pairings, scoring and cart staging. Rental clubs are also available.

Plantation Course

18 holes – 6687 Yards – Par 72

With Rees Jones’ masterful renovation, Plantation Course unfolds among a forest of ancient live oak and cedar, with a hint of danger lurking in its tidal creeks and lakes. Plantation boasts expansive fairways that give definition to the course, showcasing beautiful views of the ocean, oaks, and blooming flowers – enticing the accomplished and inviting the novice. Jones calls the new Plantation “parkland by the sea” for its magnificent vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and its lush natural scenery. Rees added, “I took the work of Walter Travis (who designed Plantation in 1926) and Dick Wilson (who fashioned Retreat in 1960) and produced a classic style course with a similar flavor.”

Retreat Course

18 holes – 6490 Yards – Par 72

Davis Love III and his brother, Mark, began renovating the Retreat Course in October 2000. Blending the players’ preferences from the previous design, the brothers created an original design that is dramatic. The green complexes are a combination of slope, sand bunkers, and undulations creating a masterful test, challenging the golfer to hit a variety of shots. The Retreat course features 6,490 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 71.8 and it has a slope rating of 133 on Bermuda grass.

Seaside Course

18 holes – 6657 Yards – Par 70

Seaside is the pinnacle of links golf. Situated at the southern tip of St. Simons Island at The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club, this oceanside course places a premium on careful shot selection, recovery, and putting. Offering Sea Island’s most demanding layout, Seaside is the host venue for the PGA TOUR’s McGladrey Classic. Seaside has also hosted multiple USGA events, challenging golf’s best amateur players.

Originally designed in 1929 by famed architects Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison, the Seaside Course was updated in 1999 by Tom Fazio – earning it a prominent place on Golf Digest’s list of “Top 100 Courses in the United States.” Tidal creeks, dunes, salt marshes and the St. Simons Sound frame the course, which plays fast, firm, and fun in the tradition of legendary Scottish links.

Indian Mound

18 Holes – 6469 Yards – Par 72

This Joe Lee designed golf course winds through some of Jekyll Island’s most pristine woodlands, offering a wonderful setting to see some of the Island’s natural surroundings. Lee named this course Indian Mound, after the large oyster shell middens deposited by aboriginal tribes hundreds of years ago. Indian Mound, like Jekyll Island’s other golf courses, is untouched by residential or commercial development, making it a resplendent course to take in the natural beauty of the Island.

18 Holes – 6521 Yards – Par 72

Local residents consider Oleander one their favorite Jekyll Island golf courses. Designed by Dick Wilson in 1964, this challenging 18-hole course is surrounded by inland lakes and Pine forests, with numerous doglegs and narrow fairways to overcome. Situated only 300 yards from the ocean, a steady ocean breeze is constantly working on your golf ball flight.

Pine Lakes

18 Holes – 6700 Yards – Par 72

The newest and longest (6760 yards) golf course on Jekyll Island, Pine Lakes wanders through ocean forests and migratory bird habitat. Offering “family friendly” tee boxes, Pine Lakes is the only course in America that allows players of all ages to compete fairly. Pine Lakes and Jekyll Island are the official hosts for the annual U.S. Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup.

Great Dunes

9 Holes – 3229 Yards – Par 36

In 1926, wealthy Jekyll Island resident J.D. Rockefeller commissioned the leading golf course architect of the time, Walter Travis, to build the “best course money could buy.” His creation resulted with this challenging 9-hole golf course played host to the Jekyll Island Club’s elite members, with a natural terrain of sand barriers and coastal dunes.
